| Descrizione | [Nessun testo in lingua Italiana disponibile] I met Gianni Masciarelli, owner of Masciarelli vini in Abruzzo, Italy when we started our second life in Abruzzo, in 1996. Gianni obviously was one of the rare pen afficionados in Abruzzo. Thus - when I proposed a pen out of his barrique wine barrels in 2008 - he immeditely jumped at it and put aside a truckload of barrique wood. He simply asked for a design "better than what is on the market till today". Inspired by the vintage mother of pearl pens we developed this design, bound to become the smallest wine barrel of the world. Tragically, Gianni passed away in June 2008. Nevertheless, in 2009 we started the pen project in cooperation with Marina Cvetic, wife of Gianni and new owner of Maciarelli vini. Here is the final result. Filling system is a variation of the classic buttonfill pen, with the push knob hidden in the barrel end, operated by twisting the back end. A vintage system, which was used by Goldfink, Astoria-Dux and Matador. Barrel has an overlay, made from 6 cleets of barrique, not glued in place, instead, held by the two gold rings. Cap top has a tiny gem inserted, cut from deep red vintage celluloid, color of the Montepulciano D´Abruzzo. Nib is a huge no. 8 size Bock nib, fit onto an 8mm ebonite feed, developed expecially for this pen. The makers? Pen is made by the famous and up to now unnkown maker of the Tibaldi Pens. Orio Cinti near Bologna, head of Cinti srl, www.penne-stilografiche.it, made the pen and developed the inkfeed. The wood is made by a genius in wood working near Florence. Nib of course is made by Bock in Heidelberg. We kindly asked to have his logo imprinted as well on the nib. And the box? Took us long to find the proper box, kept asking the classic pen box makers, till in the end, we asked Marina Cvetic, widow of Gianni and now head of Masciarelli vini. She pointed us to the maker of the pinewood boxes for the Magnum wine bottles. Now, the box works like the old "Griffelboxes" for pupils, and is made like a wine box, here in Italy. The pens are now ready for shipment. |
