Details
Description This is the German equivalent to the Italian Aurora Etiopia.
Both were made for the Soldier in the field, to be used with concentrated ink and water.
Etiopia was an eyedropper, that carried ink granules in the back reservoir, which were mixed with water in the ink reservoir.
This automatic pen ODO is a pistonfiller equipped with a complicated two chamber system.
The upper part was delivered prefilled with dense liquid ink concentrate. The lower part was filled with water.
While the piston moved forward, it had to pass a little groove, cut inside the barrel, which filled with ink concentrate.
Pulling back the piston, the ink inside the groove remained in the lower part and mixed with the water drawn inside.
The pen is mint, never used, but as the pen remained with the ink "sirup" since 1939 the corks are already colored, and the ivory white barrel is a little bit ambered.
I disassembled the whole pen, removed the dried ink, cleaned and waxed, and reassembled without ink.
The pen is fully operational, but I cannot guarantee for a perfect working condition.
A rare soldier´s pen, in phantastic condition.
